Online Giving

Cleburne Bible Church does not encourage givers to incur debt as a way of financing their contributions to CBC. Credit cards are accepted only for the convenience of the giver. CBC would encourage those who choose to use a credit card to give a gift to the church to pay off the balance of the card every month and avoid paying any interest or finance charges.

I have read and understand the above…

Giving at CBC

We at Cleburne Bible Church understand that giving is an act of worship. For those who regularly attend and worship at CBC we encourage faithful, even sacrificial, “grace based” giving to support the ministries and missions of CBC. 2 Corinthians 9:6-9, “ …He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

We also encourage all regular attenders of CBC to make giving a deliberate decision of first priority in their personal finances (Proverbs 3:9, “Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase…”).

Consequently, it is the duty of CBC’s staff and leadership to exercise wise, faithful stewardship of all the resources entrusted to us. We will do our best to make sure that dollars given translate into eternally profitable, fruitful ministry here in Cleburne and across the world. To do this, we promise worshipers at CBC…

Expenditures are made at CBC by authorized staff and leaders who follow Elder Board approved policy on spending. This policy states that all expenditures must be approved by designated leaders, documented and recorded by the finance office. This policy includes clear spending controls and limits in the execution of the published budget. This budget is published yearly (every December) for the congregation’s review. It covers the following fiscal year, which runs from January to December.

Expenditures not anticipated in the published budget require special consideration and can only be made after specific Elder Board approval. However, when such unusual, un-budgeted expenditures occur they will be recorded and reported in the same manner as budgeted ones

The financial statements disclosing all income to the Church, all financial resources held by the Church, as well as all expenditures by the Church are reviewed every month by the staff and Elder Board. A financial report comparing income and expenses to the published budget will be made available to the congregation regularly (either quarterly or biannually). You may access the most recent report at the bottom of this page.

of CBC according to the guidelines set by federal law in the IRS tax code for churches. Donations are thus tax deductible for givers.

will be dispersed in accordance to the stated purpose of those funds. Thus, expenses at CBC can be further limited by the giver to the stated purpose of the fund to which they designate their gift. CBC will, from time to time, as needed, create specific giving opportunities by creating temporary funds to address special needs. However, CBC currently has five permanent funds. They are…

This fund is available to CBC’s staff and leaders for execution of the published operational budget. The operational budget includes pay for staff and other employees, funding for basic programs such as the worship ministry, children’s ministry, youth ministry, adult education, etc…, funding for basic office operations and administrative expenses such as certain insurances and certain contracts, etc.., and funding for general maintenance and use of the facility and grounds.

It should be understood that a single dollar donated to the General Fund is always automatically divided so that 5 cents of that dollar goes into the Capital Improvements Fund and 15 cents goes into the Missions Fund.

This fund supports the foreign missionaries with which CBC partners to do ministry around the world. This fund also supports many local outreach efforts in the surrounding community. Click here, for a list and description of CBC’s missionaries and their work as well as the local ministries supported by CBC.

The Missions Fund receives 15% of all the general, or undesignated giving to CBC as an expression of CBC’s commitment to see the gospel preached throughout the world. Also, any donation specifically designated to Missions will go completely to this fund. Any donation designated for a specific missionary or ministry will go to that designee as long as the missionary or ministry is supported by CBC.

This fund is used to meet the needs of people in our congregation and in the local community who seek financial assistance from CBC. These funds are dispersed by the benevolence team in accordance with a policy approved by the board after an application is made and evaluated. This fund is entirely dependent upon designated funds, and any donations designated to Benevolence will go completely to this fund.

Donations designated to this fund are used exclusively to retire CBC’s debt. The debt was incurred in 2008 to build and relocate to this new facility. The Building Fund is entirely dependent upon designated gifts, and the fulfillment of campaign pledges made in 2009. Donations can also be made to this fund without a pledge. A pledge can be made to the current capital campaign, “For Such a Time as this…”, by calling the finance office.

This is the newest of the permanent funds (as of May 2009). It is used to fund projects which improve the building or grounds. It may also be used to purchase special equipment. At the Board’s discretion it may also be used to retire debt. At its inception, the fund received 5% of all the general, or undesignated giving to CBC. Just recently (as of January 1, 2011) this percentage was changed to 10% in anticipation of the need to defray more of CBC’s debt retirement outside of campaign contributions.

Also, any donation specifically designated to the Capital Improvements Fund will go completely to this fund.

as conveniently, as consistently, and as confidentially as possible. At CBC the confidentiality of worshipers is maintained by the finance office. Leaders and staff do not know “who gives what” at CBC. Records documenting (for tax purposes) all giving are mailed to each giver in January.

For the convenience of givers, CBC accepts…

We do not pass an offering plate regularly at CBC to reinforce our strong conviction that giving should not result in response to perceived coercion, done to please or impress people. Furthermore, we do not want our guests and visitors to confuse giving money as payment for Jesus’ promise of eternal life as a free gift by trusting Him for it. God’s grace cannot be bought.

The offering boxes are located just inside each of the doors of the MPR (the large worship room in our building) and the two main, West and South entrances.

Envelopes for cash donations are available at the kiosk in the community area outside the MPR. There is a special envelope for designating funds to the Building Fund. There are also generic envelopes that allow the giver to identify themselves (for tax deduction purposes) and to designate their cash gift to any of the other funds (besides the Building Fund).

Checks may be placed in the boxes without an envelope with any designations written in the memo area.

Undesignated cash or checks will be deposited in the General Fund.

Cash or checks also may be dropped by the finance office during the week (office hours are Monday thru Thursday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and on Fridays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM).

Checks may also be mailed to the finance office (Cleburne Bible Church, Attn: the Finance Office, 930 North Nolan River Road, Cleburne, TX 76033).

For the convenience of givers, we offer online giving which also provides the possibility of regular, recurring transactions. We also offer text giving.

CBC, by policy, accepts and liquidates donated stock and other real property. CBC then deposits proceeds into funds as designated by the giver. For information about stock transfers, etc…, please call the finance office, 817-641-8142.

Other Ways to Give:

Text Giving

(The same directions as those listed here, but available as a PDF: Text Giving Aid)

When you text a donation amount to CBC’s designated number 817-382-3013 for the first time, you will be prompted to visit a secure URL. After clicking the registration link, you will enter your credit or debit card information. Once complete, you will see a confirmation text showing your donation and registration were successful.

Once registered, text giving is a simple process – just text the amount you would like to give to CBC’s designated number 817-382-3013, as shown in the example.

If you only text a donation amount, the funds are attributed to the church’s general fund. When you text a donation followed by a fund name as shown in the example, the funds will be attributed to that fund. If you text “Funds” you will receive a reply text listing the current fund names to which you may choose to donate.

To change the credit/debit card information you registered initially, text “Reset” to CBC’s designated number 817-382-3013 as shown in the example. The next time you text a donation, you will be prompted to register your information as you were initially – see Giving for the first time . . .

Mail

They can also be mailed to the CBC post office box that was retained for security purposes such as giving: CBC, PO Box 1522, Cleburne 76033, with “Attention: Financial Clerk” under the PO Box line or at the bottom left corner of the envelope.
