Christ, Our Passover

David denHartog teaches from Matthew 26:17-30.  Birthdays are important to celebrate.  As Christians, we also celebrate the birth of Jesus.  But, Christians are the only religion that celebrates the death of Jesus – at Easter and every time we participate in communion.

The passage today is the account in the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus institutes the measure called the Lord’s table or the Lord’s supper.  At CBC it is our practice to celebrate it almost weekly.  Why is it so important that we do it so often?  What is the meaning of the Lord’s Supper?  What is the connection between the Old Testament practice of Passover and the New Testament practice of the Lord’s Supper?
