Bible Training Center for Pastors and Church Leaders (BTCP) was created by Dennis J Mock in 1989. He was doing missionary work in Africa and got tired of the haphazard way in which the studies were chosen. When he returned to the states, he spoke with his pastor, Charles Stanley, and was given a sabbatical to write some materials. Basically, Mock took the Masters in Biblical Studies (MABS) at Dallas Theological Seminary (60 credit hours and 2 years) and translated it into a number of classes that would total 520 classroom hours of instruction.
Students studied in courses on Bible Study methods and hermeneutics, Old Testament and New Testament Surveys, preaching or constructing Biblical messages, doctrine, spiritual life, church administration and education, teaching principles, church history, and missions, evangelism and discipleship. Assignments included giving messages and writing papers.
Twenty five students began these 10 classes of 40-60 hours each in September 2012. These pictured above are among the 9 students who completed the entire course work…. Jack Brown, Rodney Bryant, Debbie Dempsey, Gary Dempsey, Beth denHartog, Carol Jones, Jason Tennison, Robert Vickers, and Steve Willis. Many others took individual classes along the way. Classes were taught by David denHartog, Dean Elliott, and Marc West; all whom also had to be certified to teach the course.
