We offer many ways for you to connect and build relationships… relationships that go beneath the surface, the kind that won’t happen by simply attending worship services. All of us – children, youth, adults – need the comfort, encouragement, accountability, and joy we find from a group of people who know us personally and share in our lives. At CBC we have developed a variety of ways for you to connect with people who will love you and encourage you in your walk with Jesus Christ.
Newcomer Luncheon
We have a bi-monthly luncheon provided for you by the church immediately after the second worship service if you are new to us. The staff will be there to meet you as well as other key leaders in the church. It is the opportunity to learn about CBC as “a place where grace makes a difference”; and you will get a better understanding of how to get connected so that you can more fully experience the life that God has for you. We won’t keep you long – the program is relatively brief. Usually we are finished before others who eat at a restaurant.
This is the perfect place to start becoming acquainted with CBC.
Discovery Class
Discovery Class is our follow-up to the Newcomer Luncheon. Russ Schubert will introduce you to the church’s culture, mission and polity. You’ll also learn more about the beliefs and vision of CBC, membership and opportunities for your involvement.
This five week class meets on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School hour (9:15-10:45) and is limited to 10 persons per class. The Discovery Class is offered periodically throughout the year.
For more information about this class or to sign-up, you may do so at the kiosk.
How Do I Join?
To become a member of Cleburne Bible Church, we require that you go through Discovery Class. At the end of the five week class you will be provided a Membership Commitment form to sign, as well as provide a brief written summary of your salvation testimony. All applications for membership are subject to Elder review and approval. Baptism is not required for church membership, but is strongly encouraged if you have not been baptized as an act of obedience and as a testimony of your faith in Christ.
Though faith in Christ alone is the sole requirement for membership, all members as part of the Membership Commitment are expected to abstain from the practices of sin outlined in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. Thus, the practice of these can be just cause for denial of membership to those applying.
A membership commitment is a commitment on the part of the Elders to the membership and it is also a commitment on the part of the members of CBC to the body of believers. This commitment insures that both the leadership and the membership will fulfill their stewardship as members and ministers within the body to cause its spiritual growth, it’s holiness, the unity of the body, and the needs of the body being met.
As you become a member, we want you to know our commitment to you. We want you to feel loved and cared for. We also want you to know that as part of our commitment to you, we will love you enough so that if you should ever begin to stray in your Christian life and practice sin, we will seek to be faithful to follow through on the procedures in Matthew 18:15-17. The purpose of those procedures is to bring a change of heart on the part of those who are “caught” in the trap of the enemy.
The Cleburne Bible Church Prayer Team is available to intercede for you. To share your confidential prayer request, fill out the form to the right. Someone who cares will pray for you and be in touch.
